Guru Padmasambhava fué un gran maestro Tántrico. Invitado por el rey tibetano Trisong Detsen, para que ayudase a Shantarakshita a fundar el gran monasterio de Samye, acudió al Tibet, donde permanecería durante un período de cincuenta años. En el camino dominó a numerosas entidades locales e introdujo el Budismo Tántrico en el país, donde hoy sigue siendo muy reverenciado, en especial bajo el nombre de Guru Rinpoché.

Guru Dakpo es una manifestación airada de Padmasambhava. Se dice que adoptó esta forma como propagador del Buddhismo con el rugido del león, en los seis mundos.

Guru Padmasambhava of Oddiyana was a great Tantric master. He went to Tibet, the land of snow on the invitation of the Tibetan King Trisong Detsen to help Shantarakshita in founding the great monastery at Samye in Tibet. He is said to have tamed many local deities and introduced tantric Buddhism in the country. He is highly revered there, and Tibetans call him Guru Rinpoche.

Guru Drakpo is a fierce manifestation of Guru Rinpoche. It is said that Padmasambhava took this form as a propagator of Buddhism in the six worlds with the roaring lion's voice.
